Yoko Shimomura

Yoko Shimomura.

Yoko Shimomura (下村 陽子, Shimomura Yōko, born October 19, 1967 in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese video game music composer. She is the composer of all original music in the Kingdom Hearts series. She has also composed for the Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve, and many other video games.

Biography

Shimomura joined Square in 1993 as a composer after graduating from Osaka Music School, working for Capcom, and composed the score for Live a Live in 1994.

Shimomura makes her debut as a Final Fantasy series music composer with Final Fantasy XV. Her piece for this Final Fantasy title, "Somnus", was included in the Square Enix compilation album, Drammatica: The Very Best of Yoko Shimomura.

Style

Yoko Shimomura has a love for classical music and composers, as well as a love for the piano. Some pieces, like Dearly Beloved, she shows her skill in making masterful piano melodies and pieces.
