Quests are certain objectives given to the player in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded by characters all over the data worlds. In order to start a quest, one must go to the "World Select" screen and select "Questploration" when scrolling under the five Disney worlds. After this, the player must talk to the quest-giver in each world. To finish a quest, a "Key Item" must be obtained. These items can be found inside the System Sectors. Once found, the player must return to the quest giver with the "Key Item".

Quests also appear in Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, in an entirely separate format. In this game, quests are the main means of accessing gameplay. Quests exist in four different formats: Story Quests, Special Quests, Event Quests and the Coliseum. At most times, each quest, regardless of format, has an Attribute Point cost assigned to it.
