Merman Form

From Kingdom Hearts Wiki: A world of information not accessible by Gummiship

Sora in Merman Form

While visiting Atlantica during the events of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, Sora transforms into his Merman Form. Sora takes on the appearance of a merman, though with a dolphin tail instead of that of a fish. This version of Sora has unique swimming abilities, and allows him to breathe underwater.

[edit] Controls

The controls for Sora, in his merman form, are slightly different than the normal controls, and in addition, are different depending on the game. Much like the controls for flying, the changed controls in Kingdom Hearts are:

  • Image:B c.gif: Swim up
  • Image:B s.gif: Dive down

In Kingdom Hearts II, the controls are changed to:

  • Right Analog Stick
    • Image:B u.gif: Swim up
    • Image:B d.gif: Dive down

[edit] Abilities

  • Mermaid Kick
  • Sora while in this form also has the ability to move all around the world in ways he wasn't able to with legs. This includes being able to go from the top to the bottom of the screen with one button press.

[edit] Appearances

[edit] Kingdom Hearts

This form makes its debut in Atlantica and the movements are taught by Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian. This form is different in that it incorporates completely new battle mechanics (Sora's Lion Form is like this but less complicated). The form increases speed but makes it more difficult to chase down targets and such.

[edit] Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strangely this form doesn't appear in Atlantica in either the original or remake of this game.

[edit] Kingdom Hearts II

The movement controls have been changed but there are no battles that actually use the battle system. (Ursula is fought by the singing system.)

[edit] Journal Entry

[edit] Kingdom Hearts II

Hero of the Keyblade. Sora continues his search for Riku, separated from him in the great battle some time ago.

In his previous travels, Sora defended Atlantica when Ursula tried to take the Trident.

[edit] Trivia

  • It is most likely that in Atlantica, Sora turns into a Merman so he still can use the Keyblade with his arms.
  • Sora does not appear to be wearing his crown pendant in Merman Form. The only other forms where his pendant isn't seen are in Data Form and Die Form.
  • This form can be also called "Dolphin Form" since unlike Ariel or King Triton Sora is half man and half dolphin and "classic" mermaids are half human and half fish.
