Time to Rock the Boat! (September 21st)
The past few months have been fairly quiet on the Kingdom Hearts front, with little notable news to quench the ever-present thirst of the fanbase. However, sparse as it has been, the news that has come out has been interesting enough! With this in mind, how about we dive straight in to this edition of Jiminy's Journal? (Please note that we do not claim to be the real thing by any means!) Prepare to sate your appetite with some juicy articles and news from The Keyhole itself!
What better way to kick off this latest piece than with some news from Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ! Since our last update, there have been a grand total of 100 new story quests added to the game, bringing the number of playable story quests to 450. These quests begin to delve deeper into the secrets of the Foretellers and the Book of Prophecies. For the first time, we also meet Ephemer, not to be confused with Ephemera as he was previously known by the fanbase. In fact, many fans were disappointed by the name change, arguing that the original name rolled off the tongue better and seemed more fitting for the character. Still, Ephemer he remains, and players of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ have been enjoying the challenges that the most recent quests have been presenting! In addition to Ephemer, Foreteller Ava and Chirithy become more prominent in the storyline! You can read about each separate release of new quests at these four separate links.
Moving on from Unchained χ, it has been announced that multiple new Play Arts Kai figures are set to be released in the new year. These include Sora in his snazzy Kingdom Hearts III outfit, as well as Roxas in his Organization XIII attire holding both Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Alongside these Play Arts Kai figures, at the San Diego Comic Con, we were also able to lay eyes upon new Static Arts Figures, including Chirithy, Shadow, and Meow Wow! For more information, as well as the chance to view some images of the new figures, we recommend you travel to both these links!
A small sidenote in this edition is the newest album release for Utada Hikaru! The popular singer of both Simple and Clean and Sanctuary has returned after a hiatus, with her album entitled, Fantôme releasing on the 28th September! We are excited to see Utada back on the music scene again after so long!
No sooner had we finished discussing it than we are jumping straight back to Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ! Some exciting announcements have been made recently which will certainly excite players of the game! The promise of multiplayer modes and new worlds, including a previously unseen Disney world are all too good to be true! Perhaps the Keyblade War really is drawing near after all! You can read more about the news here! Further news about this addition has been quoted for early 2017, as stated in this article.
For the first anniversary of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, we were treated to some artwork drawn by Tetsuya Nomura himself! The artwork features Ephemer, Skuld, and Ventus standing alongside two unknown characters. The fanbase was curious about the addition of Ventus to the artwork, and numerous theories have sprung up to explain his involvement with the Kingdom Hearts χ characters! We wonder what Tetsuya Nomura will come up with for his next piece of artwork!
...and now for the piece of news that has caused the entire Kingdom Hearts fanbase to erupt with excitement! I am of course referring to the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue! With extraordinary new gameplay from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2 and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD and visually stunning cutscenes from both aforementioned games as well as Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, many fans sat with open mouths attempting to take in the breathless new footage for the game, now officially scheduled for release in Japan on 12th January, 2017 and in the rest of the world on 24th January, 2017! That's before we even begin to mention the fresh, Ray of Hope remix of Utada Hikaru's Simple and Clean! It would be no understatement to say that Square Enix have set expectations high for this next release! However, rather than listen to me babble on about how amazing the trailer was, why don't you watch it yourself? Check out the video below, and this link for more information! An image of the boxart for the Japanese version of the game can be viewed on the right!
What more fitting way to end this Jiminy's Journal update than with news from our very own corner of the world, The Keyhole! Editing of late has been very much focused on the mass of images that call The Keyhole their home! We have been busying away renaming incorrectly named images, as well as continuing our purge of all things JPG! Fresh off the press are two staff promotions, which have signalled the end of an era for this wiki, and the start of a new one! Aixon (Yes, that is me.) has been promoted to administrator status, and given all the extra responsibilities which that role entails, and Draaek, our resident dragon, has been promoted to moderator, allowing her more freedom to help the wiki in the ways which she does best! Congratulations to the both of them, and the wiki as a whole wishes them the best in their future ventures on The Keyhole!
So, that wasn't quite as short and brief as originally thought! However, that is by no means a bad thing! The more exciting news, the better, as far as we are concerned! We hope you enjoyed this update, and look forward to presenting you with our next one! In the meantime, do take a look at our Twitter page, our Tumblr wall and make sure to vote in Draaek's new arena! Until next time, remember, your friends can be your power if you let them!

Looking to the wiki, we have had a quiet couple of months activity-wise with a spark of activity in the last two weeks. However, not all has been quiet. In fact, this past month the community here at the Keyhole said goodbye to our dear admin, LegendAqua, or LA, as he was affectionately known. LA had been an active user of this site for many years, helping to complete many wiki projects and impressing everyone with his vast knowledge of the world of anime. He took the difficult decision to retire, and the community wishes him the very best in his future endeavours. We will certainly miss him dearly!

Full Steam Ahead! (January 8th)
2015 has come to its conclusion, and the excitement and potential of 2016 awaits us! However, before we take a look at what we can expect in the coming year, let us first take a look back at the Kingdom Hearts-related news of the last semester!
August 2015 was a particularly intriguing month for Kingdom Hearts fans around the world! The news of Big Hero Six's entrance as a world for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III was announced by Ray Conli, the producer of the original film himself! Details can be read here!
The announcement of Big Hero Six's inclusion in Kingdom Hearts III was quickly followed by the exciting news of the release of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ in Japan on September 2nd! Whilst we still await the English language version of this game, it has been exciting to view the development of the story thus far in the Japanese exclusive version! See this link for the release information.
Arguably the most exhilarating and fresh announcement of this past year, it was revealed at the SCEJA Press conference on the 15th of September that a three-title package was going to be released in 2016. Titled as Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, this package is set to include an HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -a fragmentary passage-.
The latter two titles will tell two entirely new storylines which have previously been untold in the franchise! Cinematics for Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover have shown that the storyline will focus on the missing page from the Book of Prophecies and the potential of a traitor amongst the Foretellers. Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -a fragmentary passage- is set to be a thrilling game! From trailers and interviews with the creators of the Kingdom Hearts series, we have discovered that it will focus in on Aqua's journey and adventures within the Realm of Darkness. Since the original announcement and trailer, a separate trailer for both this game and for Kingdom Hearts III have been released. Both the English version of original trailer and the more recent one can be viewed below!
As can also be seen in the above trailer, we were shown a new cutscene from Kingdom Hearts III! It took place in the Mysterious Tower, and showcased a conversation between Kairi, Riku, Mickey and Master Yen Sid. Additionally, we were shown a new type of Nobody, some new forms of Heartless, and a sneak peak at a new attraction flow ride! Despite the seemingly endless wait, Kingdom Hearts III is shaping up to be extraordinarily exciting!
In more recent news, Yoko Shimomura was featured in an interview with RPG Site. In the interview, she discusses the challenges which she has faced composing for the ‘’Kingdom Hearts’’ series. She also briefly sheds some light on composing for ‘’Kingdom Hearts III’’. You can read more about the interview here.
On the wiki side of things, we have been very busy with the second annual End of Year Event, which we run in conjunction with our sister site, KHWiki! The results of the splendid event will be viewable in issue #7 of the Twilight Times magazine, which is set for release within the next few days!
That’s all for this edition of Jiminy’s Journal, everyone! Until next time!
