The Internet Explodes (June 13th)Edit

That's right, it's finally happened: A trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has been revealed!

E3 2013 Trailer

On June 10th at E3 2013, the trailer was revealed to a great reception from fans everywhere! Gameplay footage from the game shows the standard Attack, Item and Magic options, with a secret option hidden behind a question mark. The gauges have also been updated, leaving much anticipation for new abilities that might be available for Sora and his friends when the game is released!
Shortly after, it was also revealed that the game would be available on the up and coming PS4, as well as the Xbox One! This will be the first time the KH franchise has worked with Microsoft, so it's a very exciting development! During interviews at E3, it was shared that there are no current plans for Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- to be made available on Xbox, and no comments were allowed to be made on porting to the Wii U, or Pixar elements being incorporated into future games. It was also during this gathering that the official websites for Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- and Kingdom Hearts III were opened.

If you thought the news ended there you'd be dead wrong! Series creator Tetsuya Nomura was on the promotional trail, providing interviews with Square Enix Presents, Square Enix Channel and Famitsu magazine. Highlights include the conformation that Final Fantasy characters would most definitely be present in KHIII, and that Sora would be the main character. He said he would consider the multiplayer functions of the next gen consoles while in development, the ability to use summons would be different in this game, and we will surely be seeing more of Organization XIII and the dastardly Nobodies!
Talking about battle, Nomura explained he wants to evolve the battle system of KHIII, while also keeping some of the elements from past games, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in particular. He concluded by promising flashy action and asking for the fan's support. Full interview notes can be found on Kingdom Hearts Insider here, here and here.

Anticipating the amount of interest in the latest trailer, we would like to remind you of our no video policy. Due to abuse of this feature in the past, we do not allow videos to be uploaded on this wiki and instead encourage the use of the <youtube></youtube> tags. Unfortunately, because of a recent update implemented by wikia, these tags now upload the video embedded in them automatically, which is something which is causing a bit of trouble for our admins. It is because of this that we implore you to use the video template, as this prevents the automatic uploads. To learn more about adding a video to a page, please read the instructions provided on the template page, or contact one of our staff members. As always, any videos uploaded to this wiki will be deleted by an admin.

On a more positive note, next month we will be restarting our Featured Media and Featured Article pages. However, due a lack of user interest, these pages will be joined into one, and will now be moderated by the staff. Each month a staff member will choose a piece of media or an article to display on the front page, so please anticipate the showcase of our wiki's finest! Keep an eye out for these changes, as input from all users on these selections may be accepted soon.

To wrap things up, another piece of merchandise has been revealed; the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 wall scroll! The fantastic piece of artwork has not yet been given a release date, but we'll be sure to keep you posted!

May 2013Edit

Policy Progress (May 30th)Edit

-- roseleft.png This concludes my wonderful story! roseright.png 21:13, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

Some new changes are happening on the Keyhole, including a few things that could directly affect you. Most of these new happenings are related to the uploading and maintenance of images here, so if you're an avid image lover, please be sure to read the following very carefully!

First, a naming policy for our wiki has finally been written out. The page, which can be found here outlines the proper format for naming images when they are uploaded and should be consulted every time a new image is uploaded. A link to this page can also be found on the Upload Photo page in a big, highly noticeable banner, so there is no excuse for a badly named image.
Because we now have this policy clearly available for everyone to see, we are going to crack down on badly named images. Any images that have been uploaded with no effort to write a legible name shall be immediately deleted with no warning. However, images that have names that are only slightly incorrect shall simply be marked with the {{badname}} template and you will be allowed to rectify your mistake. To make it easier for both you and us, please ensure that when uploading images, you give them appropriate names!

Now, many older members may remember the feeling of signing up to the Keyhole and becoming overwhelmed by the sea of constant work available. As a newbie, what jobs are available and how can you help them? What if one job's too hard or another is too simple? Well, in an effort to solve this confusion, we have a launched a new Helping Out page! The page can be found here and lists a group of tasks, both big and small, that users are welcome to help out on. The list will be updated regularly by the staff and hopes to give a direction to users that want to help but are unsure how to. Take a look at the list and see if anything looks like it's in your ability range!
Alternatively, the page's talk page is available for anyone that has a job that they want assistance with. If you noticed something that needs work on but are unable to do so yourself, then let us know on the talk page and one of our staff members will discuss it with you.

For our final development, we're back to images! After some discussion, the staff have decided to initiate some new policies on the uploading of Talk Bubble Sprites to the Keyhole. The first change is that from now on any sprites you upload to the Keyhole will be made available to all other users. This means that if you are looking for a sprite to accessorize your bubble, you can use any of the images available in the TBS category. If you decide to use another person's sprite, please let them know first, as a sign of courtesy and good faith.
If you wish for your sprites to remain private to you and you only, please nominate the sprites you have here for deletion on the Pages for Deletion page and feel free to host them on an external image hosting site. Any images hosted externally will remain private to you.

Continuing on with talk bubbles, in the ongoing effort to clean up our image categories, it has been decided that sprites that are no longer linked on any page will be removed. If an unused sprite is found, it will be marked with the deletion template and you will be given one week to upload it somewhere else if you wish. However, if you want your sprite to stay hosted on the Keyhole, all you have to do is post a note on the image's discussion page stating so, and a staff member will discuss it with you. At your request, your image will be allowed to stay hosted here, despite not being used. Of course, if you make no such request, the image will be deleted a week after being nominated. Please keep an eye on your talk bubble sprites to ensure they will be protected!

Now, to finish off this post, let's hear some more merchandise news! It has recently been announced that a special pencil case and accessory bag to commemorate the release of Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- are confirmed for release! Head on over to Kingdom Hearts Insider's article on the items to learn prices and where to buy!

Things are moving forward for both the Keyhole and the world of Kingdom Hearts, and really, could we ask for better way to start the month of May?

Continuing the string of merchandising goodies that have been teased this year, the June/July PREVIEWSWorld catalog has revealed more info on the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Play Arts Kai. Images, shipping dates and prices can be found at Kingdom Hearts Insider.

For those of you that can't wait any longer for the release of Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- in your country, I'm afraid the wait might become a bit harder once you learn about the special pre-order bonus currently attached to this special release. The game's official website has been updated with the news that pre-ordering the latest installment in the series will reward you with a special, limited edition art book. The site promises the book will be filled with concept art, early designs and more behind the scenes info about the game we all love. And for those who are wondering when they can get their hands on this special treat, official release dates have been added to the wiki page for the HD Remix, so be sure to take a look!

Even with all of this exciting news, we still have something we're more excited about happening right here on the Keyhole! After months of hard work from cherished moderator Chainoffire, we are proud to announce the grand opening of The Underdrome! This exciting arena will pit the best of Kingdom Hearts against each other in a race to the finish! Who will come out on top?
Right now things are kicking off with a relaxing test month that explores the similarities between the characters of Kingdom Hearts and the other loved Square Enix characters that are yet to meet Sora or his allies. Month 0 is sure to be a fun way to warm things up, so get in and cast your vote while you can!

April 2013Edit

Prepare to Die! (April 12th)Edit

-- bubbieleft.gif I'm Cap'n of you, Whale! bubbieright.gif 04:02, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Come on, be honest: How many of you tried to unlock superboss Inigo Montoya on your copy of KH3D? And tell me, how many of you are only just realizing it was nothing more than an elaborate April Fool's Day Joke? For all of you who we fooled, you can hop on over to the talk page of LegendAqua and thank him for all the unnecessary grinding you just did!

What is less than a joke, however, is the fact that the Kingdom Hearts manga I mentioned below is now available for preorder on Amazon and other stores! The ever helpful Kingdom Hearts Insider has provided links to all the appropriate pages, so be sure to grab your copy!

Memories and Manga (April 2nd)Edit

-- sigleft.png Final Rest LadyLuckRight_zpsface5b41.png 09:29, April 2, 2013 (UTC)

A few days ago fans of the KH series celebrated the 11th anniversary of the creation of the Kingdom Hearts universe and we here at the Keyhole would like to say Happy Birthday Kingdom Hearts! Can you believe there's been 11 years of Kingdom Hearts already? Although some of us (myself included) may be late bloomers to the series, I'm sure all of us are grateful for the day when Kingdom Hearts hit the shelves in game stores all over Japan!

A cause for more celebration was the recent announcement of new Kingdom Hearts themed keychains featuring artwork from the first game and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. You can view the sample image of the keychains here, but so far there's no news on when or where they will be available. We'll try to keep you posted though!

In other merchandise news, Square Enix recently added two beautiful Kingdom Hearts themed earphone jacks to thier online store. The designs available are Sora's iconic crown and Roxas' familiar X. Each jack costs 1,200円 and they will be made available this coming May 13th.

We've saved the best news for last! At the recent Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington, manga publishers Yen Press proudly announced that they'd be resuming the publication of Shiro Amano's Kingdom Hearts Manga series! Instead of continuing from where the previous publisher left off, Yen Press announced they would be beginning the series all over again. The Kingdom Hearts Final Mix volumes will be released in May, followed by Chain of Memories in June. The first volume of the 358/2 Days story will be available in November, with the Kingdom Hearts II volumes bridging the gap after Chain of Memories. As an added bonus, the Shiro Amano Kingdom Hearts artbook will also be released around the same time as the Kingdom Hearts II manga.

Get your wallets ready everyone, because this looks like it's going to be a tough year for the bank accounts of KH fans everywhere!

March 2013Edit

-- .Nobody Too lazy for a talk bubble Nobody 05:29, March 24, 2013 (UTC)

Square Enix has announced the release of new Kingdom Hearts Merchandise at its Japanese e-store! These items include Sora and Riku Dream Drop Distance Play Arts action figures which will be released on August 19th and Kingdom Hearts I and II bookmark sets and a Kingdom Hearts face towel which were all released on March 23rd.

New Month, New News (March 16th)Edit

-- roseleft.png This concludes my wonderful story! roseright.png 04:12, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

It has been a while, hasn't it? Well, since my last post quite a bit has gone on in KH-verse! Prepare yourself for a news overload!

The recently announced Kingdom Hearts χ has opened up it's own Japanese site! To top things off, a special message from the kingdom revealed that Yahoo Games will be holding a beta test for the game! Even more tantalizing is Japanese site 4gamer revealing additional information about the upcoming title. You can read a translation of the article on Kingdom Hearts Insider thanks to their contributor Zephyr. It's really exciting to see things moving forward, even though there's nothing for us international fans just yet! Fingers crossed for some English updates soon!

Moving over to the latest addition to the KH series family, who else is drooling over the Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix-? I know I am and I don't even have a copy of the game! This game marks the first time KH will be viewed in HD, and once it is released internationally, it'll also be the first time any final mix has traveled outside of Japan. Exciting stuff, huh? Japanese magazine Famitsu also featured a special interview with the Director, Co-Director and Composer of the game, which reveals more about the game's development, as well as some more information on game play and visuals. You can read a translation of the article here, also thanks to Kingdom Hearts Insider and Zephyr.

The fans of Kingdom Hearts move fast and some are already looking forward to 1.5's follow up, Kingdom Hearts -2.5 HD ReMix-. It appears that the credits for 1.5 show images from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts coded and some have speculated that this is a signal of the games that will feature in the next series remaster. Could we be seeing these three titles on our PS3s soon? One can only hope!

That's all the Kingdom Hearts news I have for now, but if you have anything you think the wiki should know, pop on over to our new tips page to let us know! Everyone is welcome to submit news!

Also in wiki news, if you have a copy of Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- and are looking to share your knowledge, why not have a go at editing our -1.5 HD ReMix- page? I'm also sure that our sister site would also appreciate any help.
