Halfway There! (June 20th)Edit
We're halfway through 2015 and the Journal is back with a midyear round up of this year's Kingdom Hearts news! Let's get to it, shall we?
The year was begun in sadness with the death of legendary actor Leonard Nimoy in February. Nimoy, known by many as the classic character Mr. Spock in the sci-fi series Star Trek, was known by Kingdom Hearts fans as the voice of series' antagonist Master Xehanort. It was a particularly harsh blow to fans, after the death of Xehanort's Japanese voice actor, Chikao Ōtsuka, the month before.
Unfortunately, the unpleasantness was to repeat in May, with the death of another legend: Christopher Lee, the original voice of Diz, aka Ansem the Wise. Known for his deep, booming voice and an impressive resume of roles in fantasy, horror, and more (such as playing evil sorcerer Sauron in the Lord of the Rings movie franchise), Lee is another devastating loss to the acting and Kingdom Hearts family.
In happier news, there have been a few exciting merchandise releases in the past several months. A Kingdom Hearts Tribute Album was released in Japan in March, featuring 10 Kingdom Hearts songs remastered into new versions. If you want to learn more about the album, visit the official website here. The cover art was drawn by official Disney artists and can be viewed below.
March also marked the release of the English version of Kingdom Hearts: The Novel. The second English release, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories The Novel, will be released this September.
Now onto the main event: new gaming news! Fans rejoiced in May when a new iOS/Android Kingdom Hearts game was announced! The game is called Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ and is an adaptation of the already popular, Japan-only PC game Kingdom Hearts χ. The game is due for release in Japan this year and will be free to play, but in-game purchases will be available. An international version of this game is currently in development.
Pictures of Unchained χ can be viewed here and here, a message from Tetsuya Nomura about the game can be read here, and the official Japanese website for the game is open. A trailer from June's E3 2015 event can also be viewed below.
Speaking of E3, Kingdom Hearts fans were sent into a frenzy when some much anticipated updates were announced at the recent convention! Square Enix held their own special conference, where they had a few surprises in store regarding the upcoming game Kingdom Hearts III!
That's right, not only was it revealed that a world based around the wildly popular movie Tangled was going to be included in the thrilling conclusion to the Xehanort Sega, but a trailer was released showing not only what that world would look like, but some of what we can expect regarding Heartless, fighting, and even Sora's new look!
Although a release date was not given, the level of excitement regarding the future release has risen tenfold. Are you excited for Kingdom Hearts III? If you're looking for more E3 coverage, be sure to head on over to KH13 for more!
And now to wiki news! First up is the return of the Underdrome! This year we're taking a much less linear approach, with a slow paced collection of music based battles. Make sure you vote vote vote!
Issue 4 of the Twilight Times has been released! We've got music debates, tutorials for signatures, incredibly important coverage of our April Fool's 2015 pranks and the usual fun slew of puzzles, chats, lists, and art! Make sure you check this issue out, comment, and, if you're so inclined, we sure wouldn't say no to a little volunteering for the next issue.
What better way to close off a journal entry than with a little celebration? What are we celebrating? Why, the promotion of our fantastic user Aixon of course! Aixon has been promoted to moderator for his general awesomeness (work ethic was a factor in there too, I guess). In fact, it was Aixon's awesomeness that blinded us for the past five months and kept us from reaching the journal to officially announce his promotion. Thus is the effect of Aixon. Congrats buddy!
And that's all for now! We look forward to bringing you more KH news in the future!
And so begins a new year... (January 8th)Edit

Finally, it's been just over a year since our last staff promotion. That's seems like a long time, right? Well done, Chain! Let's hope the power doesn't go to your head!
Here's hoping that 2015 is more than successful for both the Kingdom Hearts series and the Keyhole!

An interview with the co-director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tai Yasue, was also held at E3. During his talk it was revealed that the Mirage Arena would NOT be playable online upon Kingdom Hearts -HD 2.5 ReMIX-'s release, but tweaks have been made to the arena to allow for a new experience. New cutscenes for the Kingdom Hearts Re:coded theatre mode were also announced, and it has been confirmed that some of these cutscenes will include never before seen content! For more of Yasue's interview, check out KHInsider!
If images are your thing, then Kingdom Hearts -HD 2.5 ReMIX- has you covered! A horde of new screenshots were released late May, followed by renders and more screenshots mid-June and some brand new character renders in early July. You can see these renders here, but the new poses of Sora, Donald and Goofy are below.
That's all we've got on 2.5 for now! Check back in tomorrow, for news about interviews and merchandise! See you then!
Strapping Cards and Connected Hearts (March 15th)Edit
Greetings from the first Jiminy's Journal entry of 2014! It's been a while, but the Kingdom Hearts merchandise train is finally rolling again, with the tease of some Kingdom Hearts II rubber straps!
The straps were revealed by Hidemi Matsuzuka, the General Manager of Square Enix's Merchandising Division, but no further information has yet been given about them. We'll keep you posted!
Hidemi also revealed a new Kingdom Hearts themed card case, which can be viewed below. There is also no information about when this product will be released.
Moving onto game news, Tetsuya Nomura has recently revealed that online game Kingdom Hearts χ would hold a small connection to the widely anticipated upcoming game Kingdom Hearts III. This tidbit of information was intergrated into the script of the mysterious 5 characters collectively known as the Foretellers, and the quote related to Kingdom Hearts III can be found below:
- "The war in that place will lead to the defeat and destruction of the Light.
The World will be enveloped in eternal Darkness."
The full context of this quote as well as more information on the foretellers can be found at.
Our last bit of news for the day comes from a recent issue of Famitsu, which included an interview with Tetsuya Nomura. Although full translations of the interview are not yet available, a translated summary by Kingdom Hearts Insider's Zephyr confirms that the recording for Kingdom Hearts -HD 2.5 ReMIX- is now complete! This is great news for anyone looking forward to the HD remakes of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts coded!
That's all we have for now! We here at the Keyhole hope that you have been having a wonderful year so far, and we also hope that this year is a great one for both the KH series, the Keyhole and, of course, all our wonderful users!
