The Dream Rod (ロッドオブドリーム Roddo obu Dorīmu?, lit. "Rod of Dream") is a weapon from the Kingdom Hearts Series.

The Dream Rod is one of the Disney-themed weapons that appears in Kingdom Hearts. Sora obtains the Dream Rod in the Awakening; but only if the player so chooses. The player may choose to use the Dream Rod, to ignore it, or to discard it. If they accept to use the Dream Rod, then Sora's stats will focus on Magic and he will learn abilities to strengthen his magic quicker. If he discards it, then Magic will be the least focused stat. If he ignores it, then Magic will grow normally. If Sora takes the Dream Rod, he loses it upon leaving the Awakening. It can later be obtained as a weapon for Donald.

[edit] Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

The Dream Rod appears as one of Donald's few weapons in the Multiplayer Mode of 358/2 Days. To equip it, Donald must have the Zero Gear 5 attached. It appears to actually be a very large staff as compared to its incarnations in other games of the series. The Dream Shield and Dream Sword also appears as weapons for secret characters Goofy and Sora, respectively.

The Dream Rod made a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts II, along with other elements from the Awakening that Roxas found in the Station of Awakening. Like Sora, the player may choose to accept the rod or not. However, it turns into the Keyblade if taken.

  • One of the Struggle weapons in Kingdom Hearts II - the Struggle staff - has an uncanny resemblance to the Dream Rod, except that the Mickey insignia at the top is replaced with a star.
  • In Sora's Awakening, the Dream Rod is identified as "A staff of wonder and ruin."
