Dream Pieces are fragments of dreams, which are obtained in the Realm of Sleep of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Dream Pieces are the fragments what make up Spirits. Dream Pieces sometimes drop from Nightmares. According to the Nightmare and the sleeping world chosen, the type of dream piece will vary. They can can also be obtained (for some types, such as brilliant fantasies only obtained) from link portals.
There are seventeen types of Dream Pieces, with each type existing in three tiers, likening it to the previous games' synthesizing materials. These three main forms are figment, fancy and fantasy. The seventeen types of Dream Pieces present in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance are Brilliant, Charming, Dulcet, Epic, Fleeting, Grim, Intrepid, Lofty, Malleable, Noble, Prickly, Rampant, Savage, Troubling, Vibrant, Wild, and Wondrous. Each of these seventeen types of Dream Pieces have a figment, a fancy and a fantasy, each with a different appearance. Each tier of dream piece has a phrase before it, like in previous versions. It ranges in rarity and usefulness respectively. Figment - "An every day material used to bring Spirits to life." Fancy - "A superior material used to bring Spirits to life." Fantasy - "A rare material used to bring Spirits to life." There are some exceptions, such as Wild and Charming Fantasies, which state: "A precious material that can bring a rare Spirit to life."
Dream Pieces can simply be purchased from the Moogle Shop. Depending on your quantity of drops, you might have better access to different types of Dream Pieces. The price of Dream Piece will also vary on your quantity of drops, along with your choice of the sleeping worlds.
