Cerberus Cup Trophy

The Cerberus Cup trophy.

The Cerberus Cup is a series of arena matches at the Underdrome that becomes available after completing Agrabah, Halloween Town, and the Pride Lands, in Kingdom Hearts II and its Final Mix version. The Cerberus Paradox Cup becomes available after clearing the Pain and Panic Paradox Cup, and by reaching level five for all Drive Forms (except Final Form), and is accessible by talking to Hades.

Winning the Cerberus Cup also grants you the bronze trophy and achievement Novice Hero in the 2.5 ReMIX version.

The Cerberus Cup consists of ten rounds, with a battle level of 28, or 30 in the Final Mix version, and 70 in the Paradox Cup for either. It features the same enemies as fought in Agrabah, Halloween Town, and the Pride Lands. The various rounds feature enemy configurations that are tougher than normal, and often not at all encountered during typical fights. The Cup also forces Sora to fight alone, but allows him to use Drive Forms without his allies present, and severely increases the Drive Gauge restoration factor. The Cup also features a two minute timer, which increases by 15 seconds per round, and an additional goal in the form of points that are gained by defeating enemies.

Enemies encountered are Air Pirates, Trick Ghosts, Driller Moles, Hammer Frames, Tornado Steps, Wight Knights, Silver Rocks, a Living Bone, Icy Cubes and Fiery Globes a Shaman, Fortunetellers, Aerial Knockers, Cannon Guns, a Toy Soldier, Luna Bandits, Emerald Bluess, and a Fat Bandit. The 8th and 9th rounds are fought in darkness, limiting visibility.

At the time the Cerberus Cup becomes available the only two forms able to be used are Valor Form and Wisdom Form. At the time the latter is comparatively too weak, due to the low level magic spells unlocked so far, although Valor Form suffers from being unable to heal other than through items. A recommended strategy is therefore to use Valor Form for combat, and when in need of healing, revert, use Cure, fill the Drive Gauge again, and enter Valor Form again, which also instantly restores your HP and MP for free as well.

An additional tactic is to use Magnet, followed by Thunder, before entering Valor Form to soften the enemies up even more. This especially works well against the many medium, and small, sized enemies.

Cerberus bossfight[]

Cerberus Cup gameplay

Cerberus Cup gameplay.

Cerberus has much more HP than the initial bossfight, but otherwise features the same exact attacks and mechanics. It is recommended to use Valor Form, utilizing the same strategy used throughout the Cup so far, as it performs very well in aerial combos against Cerberus' three heads. It has the added benefit of making it easier to avoid Cerberus' shockwave attack.

The reward in both versions is the Rising Dragon staff for Donald, as well as a Protect Belt in the original version, and a Serenity Crystal in the Final Mix version. Completing the Paradox version grants no reward. Jiminy's Journal has two separate score requirements: 1,000 for the normal Cup, and 1,300 for the Paradox version.
